Penguins V.S Puffins

And other facts about them

Penguins

Penguins are a type of bird

but they can not fly.

Countershading is their tuxedo-like

appearance which is also known as camouflage

even though penguins can not fly they

do have wing-bones, but they are flipper-

like and work well for swimming.

Penguin's are usually

found in the southern

hemisphere.

Blue penguins also known

as "The Fairy Penguin" is the

smallest penguin. sixteen inches tall

weighs about 2.2 (1 kg.) pounds

The Emperor penguin

is the largest penguin

3.7 feet tall and weighs

between 60 and 90 pounds

lifespan is around 15 to 20

years depending on the species

Penguins that live closer

to the equator eat more fish

and penguins that live closer

to Antarctica eat more squid

and krill.

The Macaroni penguin

is the highest population

with 11,654,000 pairs.

The endangered Galapagos

penguin has the lowest

population of only 6,000

to 15,000 individuals.

Penguins that are larger

live in colder climates and

smaller penguins live in

warmer climates.

Puffins spend most of their

life swimming, diving, and

feeding at sea.
