Changing the US Foreign Policy

US President Jimmy Carter and Soviet Union leader signed a treaty called the SALT treaty, this limited nuclear weapons.

President Carter cut off US military and economic aid to Argentina and Brazil.

The rise of automation and foreign competition and it lowered the number of manufacturing jobs. Communications, transportation, and retail trade expanded.

President Carter authorizes the CIA to provide aid and equipment to a city in Afghanistan.

Carter puts tax on gas cars. It removed controls oils and natural gas in the US. It extended tax credits for the development of alternative energy.
