Ryan White
I agree with almost everything Ryan's mother
did for her son. She let him live a normal life and
do the things he enjoyed instead of making him
live a very limited lifestyle. When the people of his
town started treating them terribly, she held her
tounge and kept her head held high. This is where
i might have done things differently. I feel if people
were saying terrible things about me and my son
i would let them have a piece of my mind and
point out how wrong they are. I dont think I would
have been as collected as she was.
All throughout the book it explains the medical
processes that Ryan had to go through to help him
with hemophilia and AIDS.The book also explains
why AIDS is such a deadly disease and why there is
no cure. It talks about the ways that one could catch
AIDS and how different it is than a normal virus. I
learned a lot of interesting stuff about both AIDS and
hemophilia, and how devastating they can really be.
Ryan White: My Own Story is a book written by Ryan
White and Ann Marie Cunningham. In this book Ryan
describes his hard childhood growing up with hemophilia
and then being diagnosed with AIDS at the age of 13. It details the both the medical and personal side of his story
and shows why he was a true inspiration to all. He became the face of the fight against AIDS and a well known celebrity. He died when he was 17 years old on April 8, 1990, way later than most doctors predicted. He was a strong and hopeful person, who fought not only for himself, but others who were fighting the same disease.
