The Pipils or Cuzcatlecs are an indigenous people who live in western El Salvador, which they call Cuzcatlan. Their language is called Nahuat or Pipil, related to the Toltec people of the Nahuatl Nation.
The name "Pipil" derives from the Nahua pipiltin which means "nobles" or "children."
This indigenous people speak Nahuat or Pipil, it is related to Nahuatl.
Pipils arrived from central Mexico until 610 A.D. They were the largest group at the time of the Spanish Conquest and maintained the indigenous identity beyond the matanza of 1930s.
