Types of Slopes

Undefined Slope

An Undefined Slope is a slope that goes straight up and down (Y-axis).

The lamp post sticks up straight making an Undefined Slope

The road ends drastically downward making an Undefined Slope

What Are Slopes?

Zero Slope

Negative Slope

The floor is going downward making a Negative Slope

The horizon makes an appeasing Zero Slope

A Zero Slope is a slope that is straight across horizontally (X-axis).

A Negative Slope is a slope that starts from the upper left and goes down to the bottom right. (Imagine a Positive Slope reflected over the Y-axis.)

The hill makes a Negative Slope

  • Slope is the amount of steepness a line has. There are four different slopes, Positive, Negative, Zero and Undefined. Slopes can be anywhere from your straw to your laptop screen. Slopes are all around you! So why not learn about them. Lets take a closer look at each kind of slope.
