Is there any way you can relate?
Both Characters were misunderstood and not treated fairly at first. I can relate to both Barringrton and deGrasse . For example, when I asked my parents to be homeschooled my friends and family immediately thought it was a negative choice. It took four years to convince my parents it was the right choice for me at that time. Eventually they trusted my opinion and I got to accomplish that experience and goal.
Part 1 and 2
deGrasse eventually went to multiple colleges, (got married to Alice Young), professors and the public noticed his intelligence for astrology and he ended up being on the TV news station which gave him more recognition. Later on, deGrasse became the Hayden Planetarium's new director. He goes on shows and makes inferences about space. deGrasse even had his own show at one point and was sometimes a speaker for NASA. His final words of motivation were
"What you need, above all else, is a love for your subject, whatever it is, you've got to be so deeply in love with your subject that when hurdles are thrown and put in place, you've got enough energy to over them."
Part 1 and 2
Barrington worked hard and studied on becoming a pilot. Eventually his new goal was to be the first black man to ever fly around the world solo. Which he did, he had a lot of supporters and some haters but that didn't stop him. His final words of motivation were
"Believe that you are talented and powerful and important and can make a difference in the world"
(p.56)
Second Story / Star Power: Neil deGrasse
Neil deGrasse was born in 1988 in New York City. He's always had a passion for star gazing and learning about the universe which he did on his rooftop apartment. What increased his passion more was going to NYC's Hayden Planetarium. He then wanted to be an astrophysicist.

The main characters in the book Sky High is Barrington Irving and Neil deGrasse Tyson, they both had a passion for flying and they talked about how they accomplished their dream for flying and their story.
First story / Touch The Sky : Barrington Irving
Barrington Irving was born in 1983 in Kingston, Jamaica. He moved to Miami, Florida, when he was six. He also lived in a rough neighborhood. One day, Barrington was working in the bookstore when he saw a Jamaican man wearing a pilot uniform. His name was Captain Gary Robinson. Robinson went up to Barrington asking if he ever thought about becoming a pilot . Sooner or later Captain Robinson became Barringtons mentor.
