Tiberius ruled 14 AD to 37 AD. He was the son of Augustus' third wife, Livia. He was not liked by the senate nor the people.

In 117 AD, Rome was at its greatest size under Trajan. This is important because it became the greatest empire the world had ever known.

Claudius ruled from 41 AD to 54 AD. He is best remembered for conquering Britain. He was lame and stuttered. Claudius was a very good administrator.

The Great Fire of Rome happened in 64 AD. The fire spread throughout Rome. 70 percent of the city was destroyed. Rumors were that Emperor Nero ordered the torching.

Augustus ruled from 27 BC to 14 AD. He was given the name "Augustus" from the senate. He was the first emperor of Rome. Augustus reformed the taxation system. His system of ordered government helped aid in the expansion of the Roman Empire.

Marcus ruled from 161 AD to 180 AD. He fought wars with Parthia and Germany. He was a stoic philosopher, meaning he believed in moderation in everything. He is best know for his Meditations on Stoic Philosophy.

Constantine becomes a Christian in 323 AD. This is important to the Roman Empire because this means Christianity becomes the state religion.

Titus ruled from 79AD to 81 AD. He is best remembered for destroying Jerusalem and the Jewish temple. He is best remembered for making 2 trips to the damaged area after the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.

Hadrian's wall was built in 122 AD. It runs 73 miles. It is important to the Roman Empire because it separated the Romans from the Barbarians.

Nerva ruled from 96 AD to 98 AD. He was the first emperor chosen by the senate. He stopped the executions of senators and treason trials. He also passed many tax reliefs for poor Romans. He was only in office for 15 months before he died.

Titus opened the Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheater, in 80 AD. There were 100 days of gmaes held in the Colosseum. After 4 centuries of it being open, it fell into neglect.

Four men claimed the throne after Nero's death: Galbo, Otho, Vitellius, Vespasian. Vespasian defeated the others and became emperor. Vespasian founded the Flavian Dynasty. He ruled from 69 AD to 79 AD. He had many financial reforms. He helped rebuild Rome after Nero's rule. He is remembered for restoring the empire financially.

Nero ruled from 54 AD to 68 AD. When he came into power, it started well, then he became increasingly cruel and tyrannical. The Great Fire of Rome happened during his reign. He blamed the Christians and killed many of them publicly.

Jesus was born in 4 BC. This is important to the Roman Empire because it helped form a religion in the Empire.

Titus is best remembered for destroying Jerusalem. The assault from the Romans caused the burning and destruction of the Jewish Temple in 70 AD.

Caligula ruled from 37 AD to 41 AD. His nickname was "little boot" given to him when he was a child. He was best remembered for being insane and cruel. He tried making his horse a consul.

Antoninus ruled from 138 AD to 161 AD. He had no military conflicts. He is remembered for his charity work. He also paid for education of poor girls.

Hadrian ruled from 117 AD to 138 AD. He loved army life. He is mostly remembered for building Hadrian's Wall and for rebuilding the Pantheon in Rome.

Domitian ruled from 81 AD to 96 AD. He is mostly remembered for strengthening the economy. He is also remembered for expanding the empire's border defenses. He was assassinated by court officials.

Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD. this was the most catastrophic eruption in European history. The eruption wiped out Pompeii.

Trajan ruled from 98 AD to 117 AD. His famous military campaign was when he conquered Dacia in 106 AD. Rome was at its greatest size during his reign. He is remembered for his many architectural works and for starting a welfare program for poor children.
