In the us army there are many special skills you can gain with your specific MOS (military occupational specialty). For example as a combat medic i can get the following special skill identifiers.

  • F6 is an Army Flight Medic
  • M6 is the Army’s Licensed Practical Nurse
  • P6 is an orthopedics specialist (clinical)
  • Y8 is an immunization-allergy specialist (clinical, lab)
  • N3 is the Army’s Occupational Therapy Assistant (clinical)
  • N9 is a physical therapy technician (clinical)
  • Y2 is the code used to identify those who have not finished the upgrade classes.
  • W1 is a special operations combat medic (SOCM)
  • P3 is an optometry specialist (clinical)

A. I am Sargent first class (retired) Christopher Broesamle

Q. What did you do in the army?

A. I was a fire support specialist.

Q. How did the army help you progress in life?

A. well before the army i worked in a small town in California making Tombstones, i didn't really have much motivation in life and i wasn't really going anywhere, after i joined the army i knew what i was supposed to do in life.

Q. how long where you in the army and why that long?

A. I was in for 20 years so i could formally retire and gain the benefits like healthcare and a pension.
