Now that we know a little bit more about #3 sentence openers, let's go over some together.
Example: My dog was lazy.
-ly word: Annoyingly, my dog was lazy.
Example: The book was falling apart, it was so loved.
-ly word: Sadly, the book was falling apart, it was so loved.
Amazingly, my family can take jumping pictures.
'I still don't get it. Why can't you put in words that aren't -ly?'
Any and all pictures are not mine, and did anyone catch the Harry Potter references ??
However, there is a catch.
You can't just use any words that are used for effect..
It MUST be a #3 sentence opener, otherwise.... It wouldn't be a #3 sentence opener!! :D
Hurriedly, Sam raced to the mailbox.
Heatedly, Ginny yelled at her brothers.
Blankly, Kate told her mother what her brother had done.
Examples of -ly openers:
Annoyingly, Abraham giggled in Morgan's ear.
Worriedly, James ran for his sister.
First of all, it is a word at the very beginning of a sentence. It can not be the second or third word, it must always be the first word.
For example: If you take a normal sentence like "My cat was yowling."
and you add an -ly word, you change it to:
"Relentlessly, my cat was yowling."
Tiredly, Ron waited for George to stop with the ear jokes.
And you have a #3 sentence opener!
Some people think that -ly sentence openers are boring and useless, but I disagree! You just need to learn how to use them properly! So that, is what I am going to teach you.
