Year 1877-

Queen Victoria of Great Britain was crowned

Empress of India.

1855-

The India National Congress is created.

Also 1885-

British started ruling India directly

through a viceroy.

1757- Clive's war-

  • Robert Clive went to India working for the East India company
  • His army= 1000 British soldiers, and 2000 sepoys
  • French army= much larger and rajah joined
  • With that victory the British gained control over India for the next 190 years

1857- The Sepoy Mutiny

  • British did things that wouldn't go with sepoys' or Indian's beliefs
  • Sepoys began a mutiny (rebellion) against British
