The Spanish Constitution is the supreme law of Spain. It was enacted after a constitutional referendum, and it is the culmination of the Spanish transition to democracy. The Constitution of 1978 is one of about a dozen of other historical Spanish constitutions

THE ORIGINS OF THE DEMOCRACY

SPANISH DEMOCRACY IN DANGER(I)

The law to political reform was developed due the transition in Spain that was a process that began with the death of General Franco in 1975. Juan Carlos de Borbón was proclaimed King of Spain, and the dictatorship was replaced by a democratic system .

The atttempted military coup of 23 February 1981.The coup failed because the institutions and the monarch did not support it.

How does it work?

The base of this system is universal suffrage.

The highest political representative is the president of the government but there are other executive positions , the local and the regional.

Characteristics of the Spanish constitution

The king named Adolfo Suárez prime minister. He began the transition of democracy through a series of measures:

-The law for Political Reform (1976)

-The amnesty law (1977)

-The legalization of all political parties.

OUR Type of democracy:

The democracy can exists in a republican or in a monarchical parliamentary system.

Currently in Spain is the monarchical parliamentary system with direct democracy.

Adolfo Suárez started the policy consensus that made the constitution of 1978,that was signed by the Moncloa pacts and this ended with the taxpayer task .

-Terra Lliure ( tierra libre)

- AL- Qaeda (an internacional islamic terrorist organization).

What is democracy?

The democracy is a governamental system in which the power falls on the people through legitimate participation in government decisions.

Who had the power after this?

In 1977, the first democratic general election was held. The UCD, that won the elections with 34,44%, the first democratic president was Adolfo Suárez.
