Conservation

Ocean Conservancy

Cutting down ocean trash to lower the pollution from debris.

They're making efforts to educate as many people as they can.

Innovating ideas with variety of different organizations.

Creating a movement that shares a common goal to conserve the ocean.

Believe a clean beach makes for a clean ocean.

Oranization: Ocean Conservancy (All over the U.S.)

I Choose This

I choose this topic, because it seemed to be the most obvious/logical idea for protecting and improving any beach.

Restoring

Seagrass Transplanting

Improves the ecosystem's health.

Helps to improve estuaries.

Helps to build back sea grass beds.

Teaches youth volunteers restoration techniques.

Organization: Tampa Bay Watch (Tampa)

Why I Choose This

I choose this topic because seagrass transplanting is a relatively new idea. Seagrass transplanting seems to be making huge progress over a short time period.

Restoration

Renourishment of Beaches

Taking sand from one place to an eroding shoreline helps to build back up a healthy beach.

Nourishment prolongs erosion by waves.

Nourishment doesn't add/leave hazards on the beach.

Nourishment only adds sand to the beach without debris.

Organization: BMC Coastal Geology (Pennsylvania)

Why I Choose This

I choose this topic because it was fairly unknown to my knowledge. Adding sand to another beach allows for an opportunity for sand deprived beaches to be restored to an extent.
