Snatch 2000.

Snatch comparison.

This film in comparison to the

Oldies' but goodies' is consequential.

Including only drugs, violence, and more violence. Removing the sensual aspect of gangster life style. I have noticed the films in the 30s and 60s barely included the significance of women, which could reflect on the time of men are more important. But then skipping to the 60s it includes a beautiful woman, then to the 2000's is doesnt include anything sexual atall. Snatch is mostly about comedic and violent side of gang life.

This legendary film was directed

by Guy Ritchie, choosing some of the most comical actors of all time. This is undoubtedly one of the best films of all time. Providing the gangster and crime theme perfectly as well as keeping it amusing.

Tommy and his friend Turkish are dragged into the mad and dramatic world of match fixing. The fighter they had planned to use for a fight, is unfortunatley beaten up by a bare knuckle fighter also 'Pikey' because he wanted to buy a caravan off of their site. The duo have to try and convince the irish man 'Pitt' to fight for them and loose. Also a diamond heist is occuring, where many many gangsters from all over the world participate in.

HISTORY OF THE GENRE 'GANGSTER'/CRIME

Pulp Fiction-1964

It was directed by the very

famous Quentin Tarentino who

introduced watchers to a world of

sensual ravishment, violence and drugs. Could it be any better? Yes. Because John Travolta is basically the main character. The comparison to this film and the previous ones in the 30s and 60s is significant, including drugs and sex too not just the badass reality of gangsters.

The plot-

The beginning of the film is scenes between two hit men (Jules Winnfield) and (Vincent Vega) attempting to find a suitcase for their mob boss Marcellus Wallace. Wallace has also asked Vincent to take out his wife Mia Wallace. A coke addicted dark beauty. Another character 'Butch' is payed by Wallace to loose a boxing fight. The scenes of the wild character provides a humourous and bizarre series of events.

From doing research on many

different films under the genre

crime/gangster, it allowed me to see the possibilities of what I could do with the opening of my film. I have also learnt that other genre's can branch off of the main genre. Such as crime comedy etc. I found this task really helpful and efficient.

Point blank 1967.

I am going to be exploring

the vast changes across the years in crime and gangster movies. Focusing on the best and most famous ones!

This film brought alot of attention

to me because of its unreal budget of 3 million dollars. But, despite of the unbelieveable budget, it resulted on a legacy that has been living on and on.

Mal Reese played by John Vernon is in a great deal of debt to organised crime bosses, and asks his friend Walker to join him in a heist. The robbery was successful, but the duo soon realise that the take wasnt as grand as they had hoped. Resulting on creating a gang to get him the money he needs...

This film in comparison to Little Ceaser has progressed in the way that it is more action very quick and jumps straight into it rather than climaxed. But it is similar in the duo idea at the beginning, but then progressing to a gang.

The first gangster film-

Little caesar- 1931 Warner Bros.

This incredibly famous film was directed by Mervyn

LeRoy and produces by The Warner bros'. The 2 main characters are 'Caesar Enrico' mostly known as 'Rico' and his friend 'Joe Massara'. Rico is a low key gangster who does little robberies at gas stations. A robbery in a new years party results in a death, Joe is known as a lookout for the Vettori's gang and doesnt want to be involved or associated with them whatsoever. Joe ends up having to dump his girlfriend to join the gang again in dangerous circumstances...

This film is the most stereotypical gang violence film and highly entertaining. This was the original film that allowed directors from films in the future to branch off of just the violence category and bring others into it such as comedy.
