  • man has been given knowledge the power to think, reason, criticize, evaluate and infer.
  • this power made a person superior to the angles and keeps him dynamic and growing throughout his life.
  • Man gets his power to think and reason.
  • Knowledge and faith support each other.
  • the knowledge which is beneficial is called ALIM-i-MAHMOOD
  • The Knowledge which is injurious to mankind is called ALIM MAZMOON

Objectives Of Education

RECOGNITION OF ALLAH

  • main objective of education.
  • recognition of self and ultimately recognition of Allah.
  • Quranic teachings are essential to gain excellence in material knowledge.

Teaching Methods

  • Lesson should be conducted in a interesting way.
  • teacher should lead the discussion on two way interaction.( student should be allowed to participate)
  • Teacher should use audio-visual aid to deliver the lecture.
  • Teacher should give interesting projects
  • Teacher should proceed from simple to complex.

Student - Teacher Relationship

  • Class room should never be based upon fear.
  • Class room should be based upon love and understanding
  • relation between teacher and student should be based on friendship and mutual understanding
  • The teacher should treat the student with sympathy and kindness.
  • Teacher should never be harsh to them.
  • Teacher should answer the questions and satisfies the student.
  • His personality should be the role model.

IMAM AL-GHAZALI

INTRODUCTION

His Thoughts....

  • Abu Hamid Mohammad Bin Mohammad.
  • He was born at Ghazala in 1058.
  • Was a great muslim scholar, an educationist,philosopher and a writer.
  • He become the advisor of Nizamul Mulk Tusi.
  • Ghazali wrote more than 78 books on islamic science, philosophy and sufism, tafsir, politics, education, hadith.
  • His famous writings are: Cheemia-i-Saadat, Mairajus-Salikeen, Aqeedat-i-Misbah and Ihya-Ul-Ulummiddin.
  • The chief characteristic of his thinking is that he replaced the rule of intellectual perception by personal human experience.
  • He emphasized the materialistic development as much as the spiritual development. (balance between both)

the survival.

he advocated not luxuries but the fulfillment of the basic needs which result in the peace of mind - to serve both(people and God).

Bowing Before The Will Of Allah

  • its important for a man to bow before the will of allah.
  • bowing before allah is to accept orders and directions of allah contained in quran and sunnah.
  • people recognize you by your deeds. (good and bad aspects)
  • education enables one to follow the go deeds and leave the evil deeds.

CURRICULUM

Imam ghazali had divided subjects into two groups:

  • Compulsory Subjects - Farz-i-Aim

these are declared essential for all muslims. These included beliefs, prayers, dealings, fiqah, hadith and quranic teachings.

  • Optional Subjects - Farz-i-kafiyya

these subjects are not essential for all, people master in these subjects by their intrests. these subjects included: medicine, agriculture, trade, politics etc

Student Responsibilities

  • They should not be proud of their knowledge
  • Students should be obedient to their teachers
  • Students should keep away from wrong deeds
  • First master one subject than go for the other subject.
  • Student should try to get knowledge slowly and steadily.
