The diffrances and similarities - Rock Climbing.

Rock climbing is physically demanding as you have to pull your self up a cliff face without much support. Other activitys dont require this as much other than caving but that only needs a little physical strength.

Compared to mountain biking and orienteering this is very different as during this you cant stop at any given point because you are climbing up a cliff face. while you need to clear distance to get to certain areas, rock climbing is more physically demanding on the upperbody as you have to pull your self up to get to the next area.

However this is very similar to caving as while in a cave you do at some point have to pull your self up certain areas to get to the next location. Also they use similar equipment to rock climbers, as they have to wear protective head gear to make sure that they dont smash their head on any rocks.

Simeralities anjd differeneces -

orienteering

Rock climbing is an activity in which participants climb up, down or across natural rock formations or artificial rock walls.

Local provider: Ibex outdoor

Target groups and participants: All ages

Locations: Dart Rock, Quay Climbing Centre

Orienteering is a relitivly easy activity that requires little to no physical effort rom the individual and their group as all they have to do is get from one objective to several others witrhin in a time limit. This is very similar to hill walking as you still have to make it a certain distance of your choosing for as long as you want. This activity does not demand much physical effort other than climjbing very tough and steep hills.

Compared to something caving or rock climbing where you have to physically pull your self up cliffs and ledges by using your upper body strenght to succsessfully get around the area without harm. while in orienteering you have to use a map to know where you are going and are time bound to meet a dead line, where with caving you have to be able to make it around the cave and back out only using memory and markers because there wouldnt be a map of a cave system as it changes every now and then. this also means that you dont have a time limit so you dont have to worry about getting back in a certain time.

simeralities and differences -

hill walking

Hill Walking

Hill walking is a daventurous activity which can be physically straining in on the lower body depending on the intensity of ther walk. With this activity all you have to do is pick a certain destinaon that you waqnt to go to and challange your self to walk there. This can be similar to orienteering as you still have to walk distances and use a map to find out where you are going and in what direction. The equipment for this is similar other than for hill walker they have supplies as the journy will be longer and harder.

Compared to caving and rock climbing these sport are very different as both of these are both physically demanding on the upper body as you have to pull your self up ledges and crawl through crevices. The equiplment for these two are also very different as there are helmets involved for protection of the head and other protective gear is to be worn as well. where as with hill walking and orienterring you dont really need to much body protection because therte is not alot that you will be doing thats dangerous.

Hillwalking is the movement through and over hills and mountains without the planned use of a climbing rope or other climbing aids.

The simeralities and differences -

Caving

caving is one of the more physically demanding activities as you have to climb up walls and crawl through small creveses. This puts alot of starin on the upper body as you are using alot of muscluar strenght to do this. this is similar to rock climbing as you have to usa large amount of upper body strength to pull your self up a cliff face.

comapred to hill walking and orienteering this is alot more physically challanging as you can casually walk to the other locations. this does not demand you to put strength into your activity and stain some of your muscles causing injury. Also both these sports can be done in an open environment and public or non public areas. however rock climbing can not be done werever because its usally in a isolated location.
