This means more mail could

be sent out at a quicker pace.

In 1950, a New York company marketed a radio pager.

People have become very dependent on instant

communication

By the end of the 1950’s it was possible

to make a long distance phone call to Europe using a “transatlantic cable system”

Advances in technology, rubber and plastics radically changed telephones to become better looking, more efficient and more durable. Phones were now sold in many colors.

The communications changes of the 1950s involved a new way of writing

called computer language. This gave the few people that knew how to write

the computer language a new way to communicate.

Several innovations changed

technology dramatically in the 1950's such as the telephone answering machine created by Bell Laboratories and Western Electric
