Transcript of Adobe Flash :: An Introduction

New symbols can be pulled to the stage to create an
of the symbol. Adobe Flash is a multimedia platform used to create animations, movies, games, and interactive tools for the web. Where is Flash used? Games Animation The Web How does it work? Also known as a bitmap, is a generally a rectangular grid of mapped 'dots', also known as pixels (Picture cells).

Are stored in image files (jpeg, gif, png). The size of the image is determined by the number of bits per pixel .

Sizing a bitmap image will result in loss of quality (sometimes refered to as pixelation). vector Nice clean edges! Flash content can be displayed on various computers and devices, using Adobe Flash Player, available free of charge for common web browsers. The project file that contains all the artwork, animation, and actionscript. ActionScript Programming language used primarily for interactive development within Adobe Flash. There are three versions AS1, AS2, and AS3. Newer Android smartphones and tablets support Flash Player. Apple on the other hand has chosen not to support Flash on the iPhone or iPad (but does support it on the their desktops). ...while others find the extensive use of Flash annoying and not a web standard. Flash can manipulate vector and raster graphics to provide animation of text, drawings, and otherwise still images. The use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and shapes, to represent images.

Are based on and stored as mathematical expressions.

Sizing will have little to no effect on quality of the image. http://www.mono-1.com/monoface/main.html Flash Interface Actions Color Transform Align New Document Setup Publish Settings File Edit View Insert Modify Text Commands Control Debug Window Help Timeline The Stage Properties Library Raster Graphics Vector Graphics Many users feel that Flash enriches their web experience with creativity and innovation... Pixelation! An embeddable generated from the Flash project file. The extension stands for "Small Web Format" Flash File Types A stand alone Actionscript file. Container video file format. Actions - AS3 Compatibility Flash Debate Vector and Raster graphics vs Symbol A reusable object created and used in Flash. Symbols are stored in the library of a Flash file.

A copy of the symbol is called an instance. Symbol Types There are three types of Symbols: Info Color Picker Color (Gradients) Components Tools If you drew a black rectangle with a red stroke on the stage, it would look like this.

Nothing special, just a
vector rectangle. The rectangle is just sitting on
the stage and it is not saved in
the library. It is not a symbol yet. Clicking on the rectangle selects the fill.

Double clicking will select the fill and the stroke With the rectangle selected, it can be converted to a symbol. Give the symbol a name
and pick the symbol type. Success! Now there is an instance of the symbol on the stage.

Notice the blue line around the rectangle! The new symbol has been
deposited into the library. Main Timeline "Symbol 1's" Timeline The symbol is sitting on the stage of the main timeline. You are now in the timeline of the symbol! Published Flash Movie Button - Used for interactivity

Graphic - Single image (raster or vector)

Moveiclip - Multiple graphics combined Take a closer look at how symbols work! "That's great, but why is this so
important again?" Look what we can do
now that we created
a symbol... Nesting symbols in symbols
is an integral part of creating
advanced Flash animations.

Look what else symbols can do! It is time to put this
knowledge to action!

Let's open Flash... If you adjust the shape of the
symbol in its timeline, it will
effect all the other instances
on the stage. Instance Using the Transform panel,
you can adjust the look of all
the instances seperately!

Symbols an important in that they help optimize Flash animations and graphics!
