Ender's Game Fairyland Symbolism

The Playground

The Wolves

This probably symbolized what Ender wanted as a child. He wanted to be normal and normal children would play on playgrounds.

This could be representing the adults in Ender's life who he doesn't trust. They may seem like wolves in his eyes, looking for a prey that can put up a fight.

The serpent

The Well "Drink Traveler"

The serpent was quite possibly Ender's fear of death.

It was a trap set up in the game. It most likely symbolized something that happens at the end of the book. I don't want to spoil it.

The Giant

The River of Acid

This could be symbolizing the unorthodox ways to end a problem that Ender would come up with.

The Fairyland giant was most likely symbolizing problems Ender experiences later on and how he deals with them.

The Castle

The Cavern

This could be the precious memories that Ender has of Valentine and Alai. Or it could be what Ender wanted to happen later on.

The castle could be a problem for Ender that he manages to find a loophole for.

The Cliff

The Cloud

This seemed to represent what Ender specialized in which was seeing a good amount of the whole picture.

The cloud seems like it's Ender's wish for someone to be there to catch him when he falls.
