Infrared is useful for humans because you are able to see in the dark, giving humans night vision which links to nocturnal animals such as Bats which also use infrared light to guide themselves in the night to go looking for food. Infrared light gives humans the chance to see the way animals see all the time and gives us a new perspective.
The reason why some animals have the ability to see UV light is because their vision allows them to see these wave lengths. Seeing UV light is beneficial to animals like birds because to recognize their flock mates, to see the nutrients within their food, and they are able to see sugars, vitamins and oils that are invisible to the human eye.
Animals that see UV:
-Butterflies
-Birds
-Bees
Seeing UV light is useful for humans because it allows humans to see into living organisms to see what is beneficial about them and if they are helpful to humans in away. For example, it will allow you to see the nutrients within a plant and you'd be able to tell whether or not anything within that plant would be helpful for humans today.
Humans and animals differ in many ways, what separates us the most in my opinion would be the way we see the world. "Vision is the access to the electromagnetic spectrum" (infrared). Humans are only able to see the section of "Visible Light" on the electromagnetic spectrum, but all different types of animals have a different way of seeing the world around us. The topic that will be focused on is animals that see Infrared and UV light, which are only visible to the human eye if we are given the right technology to see it.
Most humans aside from the exceptional few who may be colour blind, all see the same amount of colours as the rest can. Humans are given a limit as to what colours they're physically able to see. Animals are also given a limit to what they are able to see, animals may be able to see more than humans and even less.
Since animals have less ways of communication they have to use their 5 senses very well in order to keep themselves alive. Animals all have different shapes of eyes and are able to do different things with their eyes. For example an eagle, they are able to change the position of their eyes and their cornea.
All animal eyes are costumed to help them safely live their lives in the real world.
Animals that are able to see with infrared light use it to their advantage for hunting their prey. This is useful to them because they are able to detect the body heat of another living thing and are able to determine whether that animal will be beneficial to them based off what they are able to see.
The reason why snakes for example can see infrared light is because they have an infrared sensing-pit in between their eyes which helps them detect heat. Why animals can see infrared in general is because they are given the ability to see that section of the electromagnetic spectrum. They have the ability to see these waves for 1 of 2 predicted reasons; 1. mutation 2. the ability of seeing these waves is beneficial to their species.
All living things have special characteristics which help them survive in the world.
some animals which can see in this way are:
-snakes(vipers,pythons)
-some fish
-mosquitoes
