Types of Volcanoes

Due to the location of modern day Texas we can most likely infer that the Volcanoes of Texas were over a hotspot which would most likely make them a shield volcanoes!

No more Tall Dome Volcanoes?

The reason we no longer have Tall Dome volcanoes nor Cone Volcanoes is simple. It's because of Weathering and erosion! Weathering breaks down the rocks and can make any land formation smaller while erosion uses wind ,water, and ice to gradually take sediments of the rocks or land formations

Extinct Volcanoes in Texas

How volcanoes shape the land?

When Volcanoes erupt they destroy everything in their path because of the extremely hot lava! After the Lava cools down all that is left is Extrusive Igneous Rock! This is when First Succession Happens. First Succession happens when their is no soil left so the ecosystem mus start from scratch and make its own soil from the left over rock. Once their is soil Pioneer Lichen ,bacteria and small grasses will start to grow! after wards the ecosystem will star to fully grow to its full glory

One can find an extinct volcano near central texas!

The extinct volcano is located 8 miles down south of Austin,Tx near the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and Mckinney Falls state park. The name of the Volcano is Pilot Knob !

What is an Extinct Volcano

An Extinct Volcano is volcano that hasn't erupted in over 10,000 and is not expected to erupt anytime soon
