Z. Randall Stroope

Z. Randall Stroope was born on October 25th, 1953 in Albuquergue, New Mexico. He is still a composer today.

  • Z. Randall Stroope is one of the most active American choral conductors and composers working today. I know all of you have sung at least one of his songs (Omnia Sol).

  • Stroope earned a Master's degree in voice performance at the University of Colorado (Boulder) and his Doctorate in conducting from Arizona State University.
  • He had been thinking about composition since the age of ten, but it was not until he wrote The Cloths of Heaven, and Inscription of Hope, the he began to gain recognition
  • He has conducted 38 all-state choirs and has headlined at numerous summer ACDA conventions. Stroope has published 125 qorks with Oxford, Alliance Music Publishers, Walton Music, and others.

Inscription of Hope

  • Inscription of Hope is based on an inscription found on a wall in a cellar in Germany where Jews were hiding from Nazis during World War II. Stroope says "Hope was all they had to hold on to; hope was their only bridge to a brighter tomorrow.
