The main conflict of this novel is that 4 kids, Vanessa, Carter, Buzz and Jane, are stranded on an unknown island. It says , on page 102, " "That is the boat we were sailing on until we crashed here." " This is showing that they have a big problem. Also on page 9, it says," "What if we don't find any water?" " Both examples are showing that they are struggling to live on the island they are stranded on.
I like this book because it leaves a cliff hanger at the end of each chapter, making you want to read more . Also, I like the book, Stranded because it is full of suspense and adventure, just like on page 78, where it says, "Carter went first and climbed right up through the roots to stand at the very base of the trunk. The whole tree was huge." This was when the kids were going to cross over a ravine with a fallen down tree. They are being adventurous as well as keeping us in suspense (if they were going to fall off).
This story ends how the kids' boat drifted off into the ocean and they don't have anywhere to go for shelter. They decide to to the caves in this island for shelter. On page 172, it says, " "The cave!" Jane shouted." This shows that they decided to do to the caves. This story continues through book 2 and 3.
The setting of this book is on an unknown island and took place on "boomerang day," which uncle Dex calls when they are going to turn back and head home. On page 102, Jane says," I'm just calling it Nowhere Island for now."
Jane is smart.
On page 14, the book says, " Carter called her [Jane] a brainiac for doing extra credit work over the summer, but then again, Carter's best subject was gym." This shows that she is doing lots of extra credit work to get more knowledge.
Carter is self-confident.
On page 9, Carter says "Don't tell me what to do." This is showing that Carter is self-confident and thinks he can do everything by himself. Another example is also on page 9, where it says, " Carter was one part bulldog and one part mule. This is showing that he wants everything his own way.
The genre of this book is Adventure.
When there is a storm, and 4 kids with 2 adults are on a boat in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, the kids thought nothing could get any worse. But that is when the boat hits a rock and all of them are forced to jump off the boat. The adults drown while the kids are stranded alone on an unknown island. Will they get off or get rescued? Before any of that, they need to learn to live with each other.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to read adventure books or is adventurous. This is because when the kids get stranded on the island, they explore it and have many adventures. On page 75, it says, "There's like a gorge or something up here." This is showing that they are adventurous and found something. I would give this book a 10 out of 10 because it had a cliff hanger at the end of each chapter and makes it difficult to put the book down. This book is similar to the book/movie, The Life of Pi because Pi is stranded on a boat in the middle of the ocean, while the kids are stranded on an island in the middle of the ocean.
