  • son of Andrew Jackson Chesnutt and Anna Marie Sampson.
  • chesnutt was the eldest child out of 5; however, only 3 was spoken of and that is Charles, Lewis and Lillian.
  • Chesnutt attended school at the Freedman's Bureau
  • married Susan Perry and had 4 kids. (Ethel, Helen, Edwin, and Dorothy)
