A Version of the Vision

  • Watch the clip.
  • Jot down some notes about:
  • What is exciting about what you see?
  • What is concerning about what you see?
  • What questions do you have?

blended learning

mass customization

  • the student learns at least in part in a supervised brick-and-mortar location away from home.
  • the modalities along each student's learning path within a course or subject are connected to provide an integrated learning experience.

Blended Taxonomy

the capacity to routinely customize products and services to meet the specific needs and/or desires of individuals without adding significantly to the cost of the product or service.

  • Match them to the model diagrams.
  • Identify which models are happening in your school either fully or in part.

Model A - Station Rotation

Model B - Flex Model

Model C - Enriched Virtual Model

Model D - Flipped Classroom

Model E - A La Carte Model

Which models seem the most interesting for you?

Which models seem far fetched for you?

Are any of the models emerging for you already?

What's one aspect of one model you hadn't considered before, but now has you dreaming?

Consider your classroom, school, district...

In terms of services, what do all of these companies have in common?

CUSTOMIZE

MODELS

TOOLS

MEASURES

Explore models of blended and mass customized learning including schools that may be further in their quest to achieve the vision than you are at the moment.

If you feel like you get the big picture and want to focus on some technology that could bring you closer to blended learning, explore some tools CA BOCES provides to school districts that support these practices.

What are you already doing?

Explore resources that further define MCL or Blended Learning and provide "measures" for you to compare where you are and where you want to be.

  • List
  • Diagram
  • Elevator Speech

What were your key takeaways?

How did this blended learning experience work for you? How would/could you adapt this for students?

  • Make a list of some of the aspects of MCL and blending you may already be doing.
  • Create a diagram like the ones in the card deck to reflect the elements of your current efforts.
  • Elect a representative from your group to give an elevator speech about your efforts.

What did you select as your focus? What did you learn during your customized time?

What questions did your exploration create for you? What are you excited about? What are you worried about?

QUICK CHATS

Discussions around hot topics from today...

A timer will be set.

The topic will be announced.

Share all of your thoughts on the topic at your table.

When prompted, suspend all "yes, buts" and shift to problem solving only.

Be ready to share your possible solutions with the group.

When the timer says we are done, we are done.
