-In 1932 the Lapua people interrupted a Social Democrat meeting in Mantsala, whihc escalted to an attempted coup d'?tat The rebellion was eneded after President Swinhead gave a speech on the radio to the rebels and they were sentenced to prison under the Protection of the Republic Act

-Worries about the Soviet Union's powers increasing through the Finnish working class.

Even though communism was abolished, many Finnish people supported it.

- The rise of fascism in Germany: This had a direct effect towards Finland. Although the Lapua movement wasn't a fascist movement, it inherited the anti-communism from fascism.

It was named for the parish of Lapua, where a fascist group disrupted a meeting of communists late in 1929.

The great depression was a contributing factor, as Finnish workers and farmers were getting impoverished.
