Effects of Adrenaline on The Human Body

Hypothalamus

Responsible for triggering the sympathic reaction and the parasympathetic system main goal is to establish a balance between the two reactions and achieve homeostasis.

What triggers Adrenaline to be released?

After Effects

Adrenaline is a response to stress to prepare the body for the "Flight or Fight Response". Anything from a roller coaster to a life threatening event can release Adrenaline.

Once the stressor is gone, the parasympathetic system takes over. This system helps reduce heart rate, slow breathing, and causes the muscles to relax.

Adrenaline

A hormone secreted by the adrenal glands, especially in conditions of stress, increasing rates of blood circulation, breathing, and carbohydrate metabolism and preparing muscles for exertion.

Effects

-Increased heart rate and respiration

-Dilated pupils

- Decreased rate of digestion

-Muscles allowed to contract

How does it work

Stressful, intense situations activate the nerves connected to the adrenal glands, which causes adrenaline to be secreted, which then increases the amount of adrenaline in the blood.

This process is very quick- within 2 to 3 minutes of the event.
