historical background

The history of the U.S. is very winding and complex, it can be broken down into historic moments and various periods in time that divided , unified, and shaped the face of the united states into the country it is today. The documents gave America independence and freedom and without the documents, America would not be what it is today.

Magna Carta

-the Magna Carta basically stated that the kings rules werent absolute and all powerful

-it forced the kings to consult nobles before making arbitrary decisions like passing taxes .

-it shaped America by giving it the idea of separation of powers among different individuals to avoid monarchy and complete power amongst one person.

The Declaration of Independence

Here are

-shaped the philosophical basis of the new government.

-it listed certain rights England took and abused from the colonists.

-it reflected on john locks social contract theory the the right of life, liberty , and the pursuit of happiness.

-the bill of rights is a list of amendments that guaranteed the citizens rights and freedoms .

an example would be the freedom of the press ,speech,and religion.

-the bill of rights helps define the american political system and the governments relationships to its citizens, by showing the limitations on the governments power to control specific liberties and rights a citizen should have the right to.

-It gave congress the right to arrange treaties and alliances, and maintain armed forces and legal tender.

-A central government was established in order for to keep individual states from conducting their own foreign diplomacy.

-It also established functions of a government for the United States after separating itself from Great Britain.
