Artist's Statement

This image represents the fact that most every barrier can be broken through, be it something tangible like a face mask or the deep societal pressures placed upon people to conform to traditional beauty standards. It all depends one one's own determination to do so.

With this portfolio, I first considered the traditional and non-traditional concept of a barrier. The traditional being ones we can, hear, feel. Tangible things like fences, drapes, blinds and wires. Then I considered non-traditional, intangible barriers, like differences between culture and ideals. While taking pictures for this portfolio, I encountered a few issues. One of them was getting the perfect lighting certain shots, especially in doors at my house, due to the somehow poor lighting in my house. One way I dealt with this was taking pictures in my bathroom, due to the higher quality of the lights and the small area meant it was brighter.

In conclusion, we are surrounded by a multitude of barriers, both physical and metaphysical. I have only captured a small few of them. However, it us up to you to decide which to overcome and which to concede to.

please give me a good grade mr. wright

Some people, non-religious and religious alike, view religion as a barrier, as something that prevents people from believing or doing certain things.
