Economic Capital
- Bourdieu refers to as the ownership of assets and command over economic resources.
i.e. Your house (asset) and your income (economic resource) determines the level of your economic capital.
Social Capital
- ‘It’s not what you know, it’s who you know’

- Bourdieu sees someones culture to mirror their class.
- Cultural capital, Bourdieu asserts, exists in three differing states:
- Embodied
- Objectified
- Institutionalized

- Embodied= “capital accrued and carried by the body” (Skeggs 2005:22). IE: Linguistics (accents etc).

Institutionalized Cultural Capital
- Institutionalized= institutional recognition. Academic recognition. IE:GCSE’s, A-Levels, Degree etc etc
