“Hell of a note, isn't it? Get my wire?” Pg 166

This a colloquialism and it also shows a kind of slag for the time

Chapter 4 & 9 syntax:

When Gatsby speaks he uses very long persise sentances. Fitzgerold shows this very well and gives exact details like in chapter 4. He gives names of people that are going to his party where they are from and his relation with them. Also his sentances are repetitive at time, but he uses strong grammer.

Ch 9 Use of Time:

In chapter 9 Gatsby is reminiscing about his love for Daisy. Apologetic and gloomy is a challeningy way describes Daisy. Gatsby talks to Nick of the old October nights.

Ch 9 Musicality:

Gatsby describes in a depressed manner states " of course she might loved me more even then do you see"(152). Finally, quivering in shallow sadness Gatsby said "It was just personal"(152). Nick's conception of Gatsby views on love is pathetic.

Ch 4 Tone:

Throughout chapter 4 one can concur Gatsby's past. The tone of the chapter is more of a mysterious one. Throught the chapter Nick tries to learn of Gatsby past and his rise to power and wealth. As the chapter goes on Nick learns more and Gatsby states "my family all died and I came into a great deal of money"(P.65). Nick couldn't find anything sinister about Gatsby all he could find is his sorrow.

Ch 9 Tone:

When reading chapter 9 Gatsby talks about his mistress named Daisey. The tone set in this chapter is depressing on the scene but they try to cover the fact that Gatsby is suffering from the affair Daisey took place in. She had an affair with another women. This climax in Gatsby's life cause him to feel not just depressed and swollowed of hope but betrayed.
