The Three major competitors in gaming today

The three major competitors are Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo.

Sony: Their first console was the Playstation it was released in 1991. Their second console was the Playstation 2, it was released in 2000. Their third release was the Playstation 3 which was released in 2006. Their most recent release was the Playstation 4 which was released in 2013.

Esports actually becomes a sport

Microsoft: Their first console was the Xbox it was released in 2001. Their second console was the Xbox 360 it was released in 2005. Their most recent console is the Xbox One it was released in 2013

In early 2015 esports was actually considered a sport and will be on ESPN.

Second and Third Generation Consoles

Nintendo: Their first console was the NES it was released in 1986. Their second console was the Super Nintendo it was released in 1992. Their third console was the Nintendo 64 it was released in 1997. Their forth console was the gamecube it was released in 2002. Their fifth console was the Wii it was released in 2006. Their most recent console is the Wii U it was released in 2012.

The History of the Hand helds

An example of a 2nd generation console was the Atari.

An example of a 3rd generation console would be the NES.

These consoles had huge impacts on what gaming is today and even though Atari is no longer around Nintendo is still a big competitor.

The first handheld game was the Game and Watch it was released in 1982. The next one was the Gameboy it was released in 1990. The next one was the Gameboy color it was released in 1999. The next was the Gameboy advanced in was released in 2001. The next was the Gameboy Advanced SP it was released in 2003 and the pokemon mini in 2002. Then the Nintendo DS was released in 2005 the Gameboy micro was also released that year. Then DS Light was released 2006. Then the DSi was released in 2009. Then in 2010 the DSi XL was released. The 3DS was released in 2011 and the Wii U's pad in 2012.

Virtual reality gaming

The first virtual reality gaming set was released in 1991 from Sega, it had LCD screens and the visor and sensors to react to the movement of the users head.

1972 the first video game console was released

Magnavox Odyssey was the first videogame console, released in 1972. But the first video games appeared in the 1960s, they were played on massive computers , not analog televisions. Ralph H. Baer conceived the idea of an at home video game in 1951. This was considered the first Genration consoles.

The First E3

The ESRB is created

The first video game , October 1958

The first E3 was in 1995, E3 is now a major event held every year for video games bringing in about 52000 people. E3 exhibits all the popular and upcoming video games.

Arcade

The ESRB is released in 1994 to rate video games on their maturiy level and what age you are reccommended to be befroe playing them

The First arcade was introduced in 1972

Physicist William Higinbotham made the first video game. It was a simple tennis game, similar to the 1970s video game named Pong. The very first video game became a big hit .

1972: Atari launches pong the first arcade sports game

1973: tatio releases astro race the first racing game

1975: Gun Fight is released

The Arcade became very popular in towns and really introduced video games to any average person.
