On your own, think about the following questions:
Note down any thoughts in your books.
In groups: Each group is going to be given either a TABLOID or BROADSHEET newspaper. It is your group's job to identify the features of the newspaper.
Fill in your individual sheets but work together to find examples.
Fill in the table in as much detail as possible- it is going to be your job to teach the opposite group what you have researched.
YOU HAVE 5 MINUTES TO WORK ON THIS!
One of the reasons newspapers aren't all the same is because we have DIFFERENT TYPES.
In pairs: Look through the cards in the envelope and try to match the 'type of newspaper' to the appropriate 'features'.
Can you think of any differences between the newspapers you have read?
Select one group member to be the 'spokesperson'.
The spokesperson is going to have 3 minutes to tell the opposite table:
i) The features of a Broadsheet/Tabloid
ii) Give examples from the newspaper you looked at.
When listening to the spokesperson, write down how this newspaper differs from the type of newspaper you studied.
