F-Black Fashion

Black fashion is a exotic fashion that separates the black culture from the others.

My name is Meikole Breanna Parnell and I came from a long line of southern black culture. I was born in Houston but raised in Colmesneil and Lufkin during my life. My mother and father are Ann Tims and Bobby Parnell. I have a half-brother that lives with my father while I live with my mother. My culture consist of beautiful art, well written speech, and joyful traditions. Every aspect of Black culture has a small meaningful trait. I love my culture and it is important to me because the black culture works hard to define their identity with protest, speeches, and art. My culture is one of the most religious culture just as the Mexican culture, we have something like the day of the dead. My family highly respects the decease and makes sure their love ones are never forgotten. We reminisce on the good and bad they’ve done on earth. My culture is never neglected and is embraced while influencing other during the process.

Music is just black peoples way of expressing themselves. Jazz and Rap were ways to send messages to the community and influence others.

Easter is the first Sunday of Jesus Christ resurrection. It's a african american tradition to dress up in bright colorful clothes especially the little girls.

Dance is another form of expressing black art. During the slave period, dancing was preformed during Negro spirituals and dance was also used as a mating ritual when the africans were on their homeland.

Slaves used to tell fables/stories that were past down generation to generation. Now many black poets or author use these fables to write their own stories.

B- Ruby Bridges

P- Preacher

Ruby Bridges is important because she was one of the first african americans to leave the education given to her in the ghetto for a higher learning. Every thanksgiving my grandmother is thankful for Ruby and the stepping stone she has made in black history.

Being a preacher is a high achievement in the southern black population.

Jumping the broom isn't as strong of a tradition like it was back then, but it used to be a tradition to jump the broom when a couple tied their bonds. This is what the slaves did since they weren't able to have a actual ceremonies like the white people.
