United State's stance was Wilson's Vision for Peace; he created the 14 Points.
#1-5 involved freedom of seas, removal of trade barriers, no secret treaties, and limits on military sizes
#6-13 was the dividing of eastern european countries by self-determination or the power to make you own decisions about your future...
#14 was the League of Nations to end All Wars
The Treaty can be divided into three sections of what it is about:
Territorial, Military, and Financial
Territorial:
The following land was taken away from Germany: Alsace-Lorraine, Eupen and Malmedy, Northern Schleswig, Hultschin, West Prussia, Posen and Upper Silesia. And The Saar, Danzig and Memel could vote if they wanted to stay apart from Germany or not.
The League of Nations also took control of Germany's overseas colonies.
Germany had to return to Russia land taken in the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk. Some of this land was made into new states : Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia.
Military:
Germany’s army was reduced to 100,000 men and was not allowed tanks, airforce or submarines, and they could only have 6 capital naval ships
Financial:
The loss of vital industrial territory (for example: those of which that contained coal) would severely cut down Germany's attempt to rebuild the economy and also combined with losing money to reparations.
They thought it would "weaken" the United States and put them into unpopular foreign affairs
The United States later ratified seperate Peace Treaties with Germay, Austria, and Hungary
The United States didn't agree with the Treaty
