History of the Civil War
The Civil war of the U.S. officially began in 1861.
The first battle fought April 12th.
Federal states in the North and the Confederate states in the South.
The Confederate states where created by southern states.
The states were displeased with the election of President Abraham Lincoln. The southern states feared the lost of their slaves, which were a labor force on which they depended.
September 17th was the bloodiest single day in the war. 12.410 dead Federal soldiers and 13.724 Confederate soldiers died.
The war ended in 1865 with the surrendering of the Confederate states. 620.000 out of 2.4 million soldiers were killed and many more were hardly injured.
