The climate in the Philippines is tropical wet. This means it is very hot and rainy. This is because the Philippines is very close to the equator, where they get direct sunlight. When the earth revolves around the sun, the equator always gets direct sunlight because it is in the center. Because the Philippines is close to the equator it only has one season. The average daily temperature is 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Subsistence farming

Subsistence farming is where you only grow enough food and crops for your family. Subsistence farming is one of the economic activities used a lot in the Philippines. There is usually none or little left over to trade.

Commercial Farming

Commercial Farming is the second economic activity used, where people raise food/crops and/or livestock to sell for a profit.

Vegetation

The vegetation in the Philippines includes broadleaf evergreen forests, also known as tropical rainforests. these forests have trees where the leaves never change color or fall off. the Philippines also have seasonal tropical forests, also known as monsoon forests. Monsoon means that the climate is either very wet or dry. some of the trees here will drop some or all of their leaves during the dry season.

In 2014 it was estimated that the Philippines had a population of over 100,000,000 people.That is enough people fill the bronco stadium over 1,313 times.

The population density in the Philippines is approximately 777 people per square mile. This means that the population is very dense.

Volcanoes

Volcanoes are one of the Philippines most recognized physical features. The Philippines consists of 37 volcanoes. However, only 18 of those volcanoes are active. The other 19 volcanoes are either sleeping or dead. The most active volcano is mount mayon, located in Luzon. Since 1616 there have been 47 eruptions killing over 1,300 people.

Islands

The first physical feature is islands. The Philippines is made up of over 7,100 Islands. 11 of those islands make up 94% of the whole area. The largest island is Luzon. Luzon is made up of about 105,000 square kilometers. While the whole Philippines is made up of about 300,000 square kilometers.
