Changed society

The ancient indian astronomy changed society in many different ways like showing what time, day, month, and year it is. It helps because some people have a specific sun/moon setting (time) they need to meet somehwere or do something. This is all because of the ancient Indian astronomy that just used the sun to tell time.

Changed Society

Astronomy Study

The ancient Indian astronomy changed society by allowing people to be able to tell time and the date. Time is so important because it helps people get on time for work, school or to meet at a certan time for an important meeting. Astronomy wasn't jus tin India, it was also in Egypt and Mesopotamia. Egypt's astronomy helped calculate the width of a pyramid by just using the rise and settng of a star.

Today

What is astronomy?

Jantar Mantar

Moon Cycle

Astronomy today is seen on clocks, phones, etc. and all tell the time the sun rises, when the sun sets, when the moon rises, and when the moon sets. This is called time and all it is, is the setting and rising of the moon and the sun.

Astronomy is the study of space objects like the planets, comets, galaxies, and especially stars! Astronomy appeared in the Vedas, or an ancient group of texts about Hinduism and ancient India. Astronomy in ancient India was used for religious beilefes and even measure the date and time.

The Jantar Mantar of Jaipur is a group of instruments that measure space. Thses instruments even includes the world's largest sundial.Did you know that Jantar Mantar meant "calculation instrument"? All the instruments in the Jantar Mantar helped measure the stars and calcuate what time and date it is. They all measure the Sun, Moon, and mostly the stars.

Ancient Indian society had an understanding of the moon cycle and if is was waxing or waning moons. This helped with the date and helped them know what day it is by just looking at the moon with the Jantar Mantar.
