Learning Objective: YWBAT use sketches to create a 3D model in 123D Design.

Essential Question: What is the connection between 2D and 3D in modeling software?

Do Now: (2 min) Think back! Last week, we started working with 123D Design.

1. What is one thing about 123D Design that is similar to Tinkercad?

2. What is one thing that is different from Tinkercad?

3. Is the view cube in Tinkercad different from the one in 123D Design? If so, how? If not, list three pieces of evidence supporting how that are the same.

Unit 4: Engineering

Do Now: (2 min) Look closely at the 3D object below.

1. Identify all of the basic 2D (not 3D) shapes that you see in the top of the object.

2. List all the primitives and tools in Tinkercad that you would need to use to recreate this object.

3. How long do you think this would take to create in Tinkercad?

Sketches in 123D Design

Part 1 : Watch three videos on Sketches and Text in 123D Design. Answer all questions on the videos.

Part 2: Design a business card in 123D Design, save the model to your Tech & Design folder, and link in the 05.07 worksheet.

To complete:

1. Go to classroom.google.com

2. Open 05.07 Sketches in 123D Design

2. Carefully follow ALL instructions, answer all questions, and capture all screenshots.

We're stepping away from Tinkercad and into 123D Design!

Basic Laptop Rules:

1. No music. And no headphones - except when watching assigned videos.

2. Only use the laptop assigned to you.

3. Carry the laptop by the base (not the screen).
