Yellow Jack was common in Africa until the slave trade came along. In most cases, wherever African slaves were imported, Yellow Jack was shared.
Today, Yellow Jack is mainly found in South America and Africa.
Prevention
To keep from getting Yellow Jack, you need to get the vaccine if you are visiting one of the high risk areas.
(There is no known cure for Yellow Jack.)
Effects . . .
Those that enter the toxic phase may get liver damage, jaundice, and serious bleeding throughout the body. These symptoms can lead to death. Overall, approximately 3% of people that get Yellow Jack will die. However, if you survive Yellow Jack, you have immunity for life.
What is it?
Yellow Jack Fever is a virus carried by female mosquitoes. It usually is only a fever with aches and other mild symptoms that lasts 2 - 4 days.
15% of the cases of Yellow Jack do not get better, and they enter a toxic phase. This can lead to symptoms which can lead to death.
