Fashion in the early years of the decade reflected the elegance of the First Lady, Jacqueline Kennedy.
The Beatles exerted a major influence on young men's
fashions and hairstyles in the 1960s. In 1966 Mary Quant
invented the mini-skirt and it
had a big influence on the fashion.
The mods and rockers were two
conflicting British youth
subcultures of the early to
mid-1960s.The rockers adopted a
macho biker gang image, wearing
clothes such as black leather
jackets. The mods adopted new
Italian and French styles. While mods were seen as sophisticated and snobbish,Rockers were seen as hopelessly scruffy. By late 1966, the two subcultures had faded from public view.
In the 70s Both men and women wore them. Wide-legged, flared jeans and platform shoes were a big trend , with soles of up to four inches thick!!!A lot of the popular culture influenced the fashion and hairstyles as you find out in the video and lots of people had long hair , down their back.
In the 1950s, ‘The new look’ was
created by Christian Dior. The collection was launched in 1947 and was actually Dior’s first. At the beginning of
the 50s shoulders were more
rounded and waist defined.
Long narrow skirts or full
circular skirts were
Worn about 30cm of the
ground.
This Bar Suit is one of the iconic images from the collection
80s fashion was all about the big, the bold and the colorful. If you were around in the 1980’s then you would no doubt have worn some huge earrings (Even if you’re a man) and chances are you would have felt good about wearing them to. As far as fashion goes no decade was quite as bold as the 1980s. After all, During what other time period could you wear leg warmers, a sweater and a miniskirt all at the same time (and in electric neon colors)?
The 80's saw the rise of the Punk era. This movement made popular towering, colorful, and spiky hairstyles accompanied by crazy, ripped up clothing.
In this prezi I will be taking you on a tour of pure fashion and you will see what fashion was like 50 years ago,so hold on tight and be prepared to take a journey back in time...
