Emily Fields

Emily is the talented star swimmer of Rosewood High School’s swim team, Emily had a complicated past relationship with former best friend Alison before she died. Emily’s parents have the most stable relationship, neither having cheated on the other before. She is the most sensitive of the girls and shows a great deal of compassion and empathy to people who are outcasts. She was the second Liar to be “visited” by Alison, and came face-to-face with “A” in season two.

The A Team

• The "A Team" is the antagonist in the story line.
• "A" sends text messages leaves notes, stalks, threatens, and blackmail the liars.
• Toby, Mona Are the only "A team" members that have been exposed But the rest of the "A team" has been secluded.

Alison DiLaurentis aka Ali

Ali was a extremely popular, beautiful, and evil girl. In the beginning of sixth grade her twin Courtney tricked their mother, Jessica, into taking Ali to the mental hospital. Alison blamed the liars for ruining her life and swore revenge. She was part of "A" and killed Courtney (her twin), and Jenna . Later on she tries to kill the LIARS in her Pocono home but they manage to get out. Ali dies from being hit in the head with a shovel by DUN DUN DUN Ian Thomas.

Is an artistic and independent person, whose family moved back to Rosewood after her father took a three year break in Iceland. Prior to Alison's disappearance, Aria became aware that her father was having an affair with a student of his (Meredith); having promised to keep it a secret, she is kicked out of the house after the first "A" reveals the affair to her mother. Her parents divorce and Aria's father marries Meredith, and she becomes pregnant. After a near-death experience, she is overcome with guilt and decides to confess to accidentally killing Tabitha (unaware she was not responsible for Tabitha's death).

Aria Montgomery

What is it about?

The series follows the lives of four teenage girls, Aria Montgomery, Emily Fields, Hanna Marin, and Spencer Hastings (nicknamed the Pretty Little Liars or just liars) whose group falls apart after their leader, Alison DiLaurentis, disapears. Four years after her disappearance, they begin receiving text messages from an anonymous source, "A," who threatens to tell their secrets. But later, Alison's body was found. But the series still continues trying to find the killer!

Spencer Hastings

Spencer is a extremely competitive girl, who strives for perfection in everything she does. She is an high-strung over-achiever, Spencer is willing to do whatever it takes to win. Spencer was Alison and Courtney DiLaurentis half-sister, her father having had an affair with their mother, Jessica. Spencer parents divorced when the affair came out. Spencer is part of the Pretty Little Liar group.

Hanna Marin

Hanna is pretty and a popular girl, who used to struggle with both bulimia and anorexia due to insecurities about her appearance. In Alison's absence, she became best friends with Mona, Ali's previous target, and they both transformed themselves into Rosewood's new "it girls". Hanna's parents divorced when she was twelve, after her father had an affair. She lived with her mother and would rarely see her father, especially after he started dating a nurse named Isabel. Hanna doesn't like her father's new wife, Isabel, and her daughter, Kate. Her father believing her eating disorders would come back due to stress, he sends her to a hospital. Hanna is involved in a car accident, which leaves another girl badly injured; she covers up her involvement with the help of the Liars. And she later becomes part of thier group.
