The story takes place in 1865 at many different locations, including Fords Theater in Washington, DC , Pine Thicket, Maryland, William H. Seward's house, and Garrett's Farm.
John Wilkes Booth was sneaky because he snuck into President Lincoln's private box at Fords Theater with anyone noticing. He is villainous because he planned to kill and killed Abraham Lincoln because he didn't like him or the Union. Another character trait is Booth is spiteful. He wanted to kill Lincoln because he didn't like the Union and what they were fighting for. He thought if he killed Lincoln, the Union would fall apart and the Confederacy would win the war.

The main conflict in Chasing Lincoln's Killer is character versus fate. We know the conflict is character versus fate because John Wilkes Booth conspired with his friends to kill Abraham Lincoln, William H. Seward, and Andrew Johnson and escape without getting caught.
