how have people adapted to live in a rainforest

tropical rainforests in danger

more than half of the worlds rainforest are being destroyed by humans needing wood and land. Rain forests that once grew over 14 percent of the land on Earth now cover only about 6 percent. And if current loss of tree rate continue, these critical habitats could disappear from the planet completely within the next hundred years.

People adapt to the Amazon rain forest by building shelters in high, elevated areas that are far away from swamps and riverbeds to minimize the amount of mosquitoes and away from lightening. They also ensure that they build where there is a water source and food source. They also adapt to the weather that is also wet and humid unlike the other places.

The term deforestation

Deforestation,is the removal or clearance to trees where the land is then converted to a non-forest .Examples of deforestation include conversion of forestland to farms, ranches, or urban use.

tropical rainforest

how we think the amazon rainforest will look in 30 years

We think that in 30 years the amazon rainforest will be alittle overgrown and will have alot less land. Also some of the animals would of come extinct and alot of other animals would of been found.

the daily weather of a tropical rainforest

The layers of a tropical rainforest

Mainly everyday between 6am and 6pm the weather normally stays in the climate of 26 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius.

the layers of a tropical rainforest are...

emergent layer

The tallest trees are the emergents, towering as much as 200 feet above the forest floor with trunks that measure up to 16 feet around. Animals found are eagles, monkeys, bats and butterflies.

canopy layer

This is the primary layer of the forest and forms a roof over the two remaining layers. Many animals live in this area since food is abundant. Those animals include: snakes, toucans and treefrogs.

understory layer

Little sunshine reaches this area so the plants have to grow larger leaves to reach the sunlight. The plants in this area grow to 12 feet. Many animals live here including jaguars, red-eyed tree frogs and leopards. There is a large group of insects here.

FOREST FLOOR

It's very dark down here. Almost no plants grow in this area. Since hardly any sun reaches the forest floor things begin to mould quickly. A leaf that might take one year to decompose in a regular climate will disappear in 6 weeks. Giant anteaters live in this layer.

our own definition of what a tropical rainforest is

global disstribution to rainforests

onni said "i think that it is a very hot place but somtimes rains "

cynon said "i think it is full of alot of tropical animals"

lewis thinks that it is a very hot place with alot of wildlife and intresting plants

lucy thinks that a tropical rainforesr is a tropical place with alot of different weather from sun to storms and there is alot of unknown animals that are some to be found.

most of the global distribution is by the equator . Rainforest are in Central Africa, South America and South East Asia.
