The authority of God's word in your life

Mat 7:24 "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."

The Seeking Ethiopian Eunuch

Act 2:36 "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." 37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"

Act 8:26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Go south to the road--the desert road--that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." 27 So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means "queen of the Ethiopians"). This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28 and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet. 29 The Spirit told Philip, "Go to that chariot and stay near it." 30 Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. "Do you understand what you are reading?" Philip asked. 31 "How can I," he said, "unless someone explains it to me?" So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. 32 This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading: "He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth. 33 In his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth." 34 The eunuch asked Philip, "Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?" 35 Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. 36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, "Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?" 38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. 39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.

Joh 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

This is a study approach to discover more about God, Jesus and the "Word" without reading pages of someone's opinion. I hope you will allow God to speak to you through his Spirit alone. Prayerfully continue with each study to include God.

Always pray :-)

Joh_14:12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

This is a great opportunity for you to learn how to handle the word of God. Use your bible as much as possible to navigate to the scriptures. Try and read wider than the listed scripture to confirm the context of the passage.

Elementary

teachings

  • Do you know God?
  • Do you know what God want for you?
  • Do you know what Jesus has been doing?
  • Are you living as a disciple of Jesus Christ?
  • Do you want to know more about faith?

The study follows a logical flow based on Heb 6:1-2 and scriptures that are relevant to the topic. The topics build on each other but you are free to navigate to any topics that may interest you.

The best way to study the scriptures is with someone that can assist you with your journey. If you don't know anybody you can contact me so that I can work something out for you. There is always someone that can talk with you on Skype.

If you are a disciple you can use these studies to help some-one else.

Keys

Heb 6:1 Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, 2 instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3 And God permitting, we will do so.

Read the scripture in your Bible.

Be honest and truthful to yourself.

What are the elementary teachings?

Who will be the Judge?

Intro Training:

Heart Questions :-)

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men.

The heart questions require prayer, humility and introspection. The heart questions are tough because they are a test for your humility.

Wrong or right...just be honest with yourself and others. You will find that we all have similar weaknesses.

It will be hard for you if you are not supported by a friend, a friend that is not afraid to speak the truth and that loves God. Your friend will encourage you and keep you accountable to your own decision.

I still find these questions challenging but they are good for me.

Follow this for more on the topics.

On to maturity questions

JN 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

:-)

My personal story, comment or opinion.

Try and memorize the verse in bold (Jn 1:14) today.

Work in Progress

  • Who do you really belong to?
  • Why are you here and what does God want for your life?
  • Do you believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God?
  • Why?/ Why not?

Do you want to find out more?

How does it work?

1. There are many main teachings.

2. Teachings have many topics.

3. Each topic have key scripture(s)/ reference(s).

4. Scripture has general topic questions. If you read the scriptures carefully you will find the answers in your heart, soul and mind. We do not provide answers.

Baptism

5. Each topic have life application questions. These questions are personal and challenging but helpful to grow if you are real and honest with yourself. No Pain .... No Gain.. :-)

The councilor left for the disciples

Joh 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

BAPTISM

Mar 16:15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."

Eternal Judgement

Do we need a Judge?

The Judge

Church Leadership

Teaching one-another

Deu_1:16 And I charged your judges at that time, "Hear the disputes between your people and judge fairly, whether the case is between two Israelites or between an Israelite and a foreigner residing among you.

Women of God

In Action

Lev_19:15 "'Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly.

Jesus Christ

Psa_7:11 God is a righteous judge, a God who displays his wrath every day.

Luk 12:13 Someone in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me." 14 Jesus replied, "Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?" 15 Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions."

Isa_2:4 He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.

Joh 5:22 Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.

What happens if society does not have a judge?

What would heaven be like without a judge?

What is good about having God's as the judge?

What role was Jesus expected to play here?

Did Jesus act reasonably as a "Judge" in this example?

Act 10:42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead.

Word from the author:

Judge on what?

Would you trust this Judge with your life?

Who has been appointed as the judge of the living and the dead?

How important is it for us to know the judge?

How can we learn more about the judge?

The Saints

Our Grace

Laziness to work

Men of God

Read: Mat 25:14-30

Do you accept Jesus as the judge of your life?

What is the best you can do to be prepared for the judgement day?

Mat 25:26 "His master replied, 'You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed?

Mat 25:30 And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'

The Words of Jesus

Jas 2:12 Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, 13 because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment!

1Co 6:2 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?

Why was the master upset with the servant with one talent?

How should we treat those around us?

Happy youth

Are you willing to be a worker for God's work on earth?

What makes you ineffective as a worker for God?

How are you treating those who make mistakes?

Ecc 11:9 Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgment.

Teachers

Who are the saints?

What role may the saints have when the world is judged?

Our words

Jas 3:1 Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

If you are in your youth, do you live as someone that will be judged?

Mat_12:36 But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.

Our deeds

Joh 12:46 I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness. 47 "If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. 48 There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day. 9 For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken. 50 I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say."

Do you make every effort to be just and fair in all your deeds?

Jas 3:6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

Reward and Punishment

Who will be judge more strictly?

When would be a good time to be a teacher?

Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.

Have you spoken any careless words to others?

Motives

of the heart

I don't claim to be somebody but only wish to help others to find the truth. My life is full of errors from which I hope to learn from. Most of all, I am dependent on the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ to stand. I therefore have nothing to boast about and I am neither eloquent in speech.

Please give me any feedback and encourage me with your story. Feel free to invite anybody that can benefit from this tool. Try and learn the bible yourself while you help others to grow in their faith.

If you need support please contact me so that I can arrange something for you. Also let me know if you see errors or if you have suggestions.

Hidden sin

Have ever considered that what you have done during your whole life is recorded?!

Ecc 12:14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.

Punishment

Church roles

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Reward

1Co 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.

Great

White Throne

What about those that did not hear the Gospel?

Fair judge?

Rom 2:14 (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, 15 since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.) 16 This will take place on the day when God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.

Rev 20:11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

How are those judged that did not hear the Gospel?

Will he be a fair judge?

Rom 1:18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

What other way did God reveal himself to us?

Isa 11:1 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. 2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD— 3 and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; 4 but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. 5 Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist.

What is the meaning of the one seated on the big white throne?

What is the difference between the first and second death?

What was the difference between the two books at judgement?

How was each type book used?

What is the criterion to be thrown into the lake of fire?

What is the criterion to be victorious?

Is it our concern exactly how GOD will judge each man individually?

The church

Judging others

Judgment for the disobedient

Rom 14:1-23

What gives God the right to be the judge?

Does God intend to be a fair judge?

1Pe 4:17 For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And, "If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?"

Rom 14:10 You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat. 11 It is written: "'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, "every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.'" 12 So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.
