Catalytic Converter
It's installed in the exhaust in between the E.M. and muffler. It converts the engine exhaust gases (such as carbon monoxide) to carbon dioxide and water. It “REALLY TRIES” to get rid of dangerous gases by having toxic chemicals lining it to convert the exhaust.
Cylinder Head
Muffler (Silencer)
Made of Metal. Connected to the underbody of the car between the catakytic converter and tail pipe. It just reduces noise of the exhaust system. When it starts to make ALOT of noise, its time for a check up!
The metal part within the engine that covers the cylinders. contains combustion chambers
Exhaust Manafold (EM)
Baffles
(EM) is a pipe that attaches to the cylinder head and directs the exhaust gases from the combustion chamber to the exhaust pipe.
It is sometimes made of stainless steel but mostly made of cast iron.
Most mufflers use baffles to control or bounce the exhaust gases around and thus dissipate its energy and stifle the sounds.
This reduces pressure of gases and lets them go out the tail pipe much quieter.
Air Pump
Tail/Exhaust Pipe
What are some components of the Exhaust System?
The exhaust manifold forces compressed air into the exhaust manifold (explained later). Helps burn any unburned fuel so it goes from dangerous carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide. Driven by a belt connected to the engine
The part that sticks out of the car at the back end. it consists of a long metal tube usually made of steel or aluminized steel, its attached to the muffler

What is Exhaust?
Used to expulse exhaust gases away from a controlled combustion inside an engine. Designed to carry toxic and/or noxious gases away from the users of the machine

Car exhaust is the cloud of gases, usually barely visible, that puffs out of the tailpipes of our cars. It is the product of burning gasoline, and it has several components.
