Examples of Road Rage

How can YOU stop it?

If you are ever in a situation where you feel angry while driving, pull over to a safe spot and take a minute to cool down. That could be the difference between getting someplace successfully and not. Always consider everything!

If you see another driver having

road rage, remind yourself that the

other driver is just bad at handling

stress, avoid eye contact and

continue to practice safe driving

habits.

Is anyone doing anything about it?

AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety is a non-profit organization.

The Foundation’s mission is to prevent traffic deaths and injuries through research into their causes and to educate the public about strategies to prevent crashes and reduce injuries.

AAA is strictly against any

sort of bad or dangerous driving.

Through lectures and brocures

they hope to make a difference.

Road Rage!

Is anyone doing anything about it?

Why is it bad??

Reaching Out Against Road Rage, or R.O.A.R.R., is a non-profit organization designed to fight the growing danger of road rage among the highways and byways of our nation.

Mission Statement

"The mission of R.O.A.R.R., Inc. is to provide support resources for victims and their families and educational tools to help communities reduce the destructive impact of aggressive driving and road rage throughout the United States."

Some Stats!

  • 66% of traffic fatalities are caused by aggressive driving.
  • 37% of aggressive driving incidents involve a firearm.
  • Males under the age of 19 are the most likely to exhibit road rage.
  • Half of drivers who are on the receiving end of an aggressive behavior, such as horn honking, a rude gesture, or tailgating admit to responding with aggressive behavior themselves.
  • Over a seven year period, 218 murders and 12,610 injuries were attributed to road rage.
  • 2% of drivers admit to trying to run an aggressor off the road!

Why is it a problem?

By Emily Wise

Road rage can lead to accidents and even major fines! It puts you, your passangers, and the people around you in danger.

What is road rage?

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration defines road rage as when a driver "commits moving traffic offenses so as to endanger other persons or property; an assault with a motor vehicle or other dangerous weapon by the operator or passenger of one motor vehicle on the operator or passengers of another motor vehicle".
