The Interior Plains-Topography

The Interior Plains are a vast region. It is mostly flat and

is slightly covered with gently rolling hills and rivers. This

area was formed by cratons when they collided and welded

with eachother. The Interior Plains stretches from the Arctic

part of Canada to the border between the U.S. and Mexico.

In the U.S. parts of the Interior Plains, the plains are divided

into the central lowland and the great plains.

The elevation in the great plains are higher than the elevation

in the central lowland, in the west part, the elevation rises from

600 metres to 1500 metres above sea level.

In the Canadian parts of the Interior plains, the plains contain 3

different kinds of elevation which are seperated by escarpments.

As you go east from the palins, the elevation descends like a

staircase when you go down one level of the 3 elevations.

In each of these elevations, you may find hills, low mountains,

forests, wide river valleys, and maybe even a sand dune.
