Another person slides the backboard underneath the athlete and the team rolls the athlete back over onto the backboard ON THE COMAND OF THE PERSON AT THE HEAD.

Roll the athlete to one side

PERSON AT HEAD IS IN CHARGE

(assuming injured person is on the ground)

Assign who is in charge. This person will lay down at the head of the injured athlete and stabilize the head, keeping it aligned with the spine.

Make sure it is centered and not on the collar bone

PERSON AT HEAD IS ALWAYS IN CHARGE

Check pulse DISTAL to the injury site

Have a team there to help. The leader, person at the head of the athlete, lifts the head up only slightly to allow another person to slip the collar underneath the head.
