The King

Kings were often considered god-like and held the highest position in government. They always had the final say, and had total control over everything.

Nobles and Royal Guards

Nobles and guards were the most sophisticated and respected citizens, often with high authority, but still below the king.

Priests

Priests played an important role as the middle management under the king and other rulers for individual city-states.

Merchants and Artisans

Merchants and artisans established a model for a new economic system based on banking.

Farmers

Although farmers were significant because they provided the surplus of food, they were still at the bottom of the political system.

Slaves

Slaves did all the manual and hard-labor, but had no say in government.
