The Coyote And The Columbian.

A story from the Sahaptin/Salishan Tribes

This story is about a coyote, but he isn’t the trickster in this one!

One day very hot day a coyote was walking along what is now known as Oregon when he decided that it was to hot, so he asked for a cloud.

And there was a cloud, and this satisfied him for a while but later he wanted more so he asked for more clouds.

Again this only satisfied him for a while, when he was unhappy he asked for rain.

And this was so.

he asked for more and more rain until that was not even enough for him.

He wanted a creek to put his feet in.

eventfully the creak became so large from his wishing that he was swept away.

The wolf was washed away for several hours, and when he was washed onto the shore he never wished for anything again.

The water then became known as the Columbian river.

The End

He asked for more and more rain until that was not even enough for him.
